What Wattle Publisher and wattlepublisher.com keep about you, why, and how to have it deleted. Last changed 23 October 2026.
The app, on your PC
Wattle Publisher keeps its own data on your PC, in %APPDATA%\Wattle Publisher: your list of addons, the folder each one comes from, your settings, the titles and icons it looked up, and your sign-in to wattlepublisher.com. Uninstall it and delete that folder, and it's gone.
It works through the Steam app on your PC, signed in as you. It never sees your Steam password. It has no analytics, no crash reporting and no account to make.
What goes to Steam
The addons you publish or update go to the Steam Workshop, through Steam, along with their titles, descriptions, tags and icons. To show the titles and icons of Workshop items, the app asks Steam's public Web API about their Workshop IDs. Downloads in the Downloader come through Steam too.
What wattlepublisher.com keeps
Only what Projects needs. The app signs in when you first open it, even before you make a project, so this begins then:
- Your Steam ID, so your projects are yours alone, with when you first and last signed in.
- Your projects: their names, the Workshop IDs in each, and when they changed.
- A sign-in token each time the app signs in, with when it was last used. Only a hash of each is kept, at most 20, and each stops working after 90 days unused.
To sign you in, the app asks Steam for a sign-in ticket, which wattlepublisher.com checks with Steam and doesn't keep. From Steam's answer it takes only your Steam ID. Your IP address is counted in memory to stop sign-ins being abused, and is never stored with your projects. Nothing is sold, or used for advertising.
